Joann H. Hary graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Speech and Language Arts. She spent seventeen years teaching high school speech and language arts. She directed many groups and individuals to high honors in state and national speech contests. She attended the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and the Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. She has served as pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont and the Aurora United Methodist Church in Aurora, Iowa, for the past seven years.
